Frequently Asked Questions

Hopefully this answers any questions that you have about JEP or what we do here. However if there is anything else you are unsure on, please don't hesitate to get in touch

What kind of young people does JEP Youth Engagement work with?

We work with children and young people aged 4–25 who may be struggling in mainstream settings. This includes those at risk of exclusion, experiencing challenges with behaviour or attendance, living with SEND, or simply needing a different approach to education and support.

How do referrals to JEP’s Alternative Provision work?

Referrals can be made by schools, local authorities, social workers, or families directly. Once we receive a referral, we carry out an initial assessment to understand the young person’s needs and put together a bespoke support plan. To complete a referral form, click here.

Is JEP an accredited education provider?

Yes. JEP is an approved NCFE Exam Centre, which means we can deliver accredited qualifications in a range of subjects and vocational areas, supporting young people to make real progress in their education journey.

Does JEP offer any support for families or carers?

Yes. We believe in working in partnership with families and carers. Our team communicates regularly with home, offers guidance when needed, and makes sure that families feel included and supported throughout the young person’s journey with us.

What services does JEP offer across its different hubs?

Across our sites in Salford and Bolton, we provide alternative education, enrichment programmes, vocational learning, care and respite, and tailored support for young people. Each hub is designed to meet different needs whether academic, practical, or emotional.

What support is available for children with additional needs or SEND?

We’re experienced in working with a wide range of needs. Our staff are trained in supporting young people with SEND, and each learner receives personalised, flexible support to help them succeed both in and out of the classroom.

Can young people gain qualifications while attending JEP?

Absolutely. We offer NCFE-accredited qualifications in English and Maths (Level 1 & 2), Occupational Studies,Health & Fitness and Art. Our goal is to help young people achieve meaningful outcomes that open doors to future education or employment.

What does a typical day look like for a young person at JEP?

Every day is structured but flexible. Young people take part in core subject lessons, enrichment sessions, and one-to-one support. Depending on their pathway, they may also access vocational learning or physical activities like sport and gym sessions.
