JEP Counselling
Professional guidance to help navigate life’s challenges, build resilience, and foster emotional well-being.

What Do We Do?
Our services provide tailored support, to help our young people feel safe, valued, and ready to grow, whatever challenges they’re facing. All staff at JEP Youth Engagement are "DETERMINED to support young people to fulfil their potential".
As part of our Educational Provision at JEP, all students have access to our team of fully qualified Counsellors and Therapists. These sessions have been a powerful catalyst for meaningful therapeutic change, supporting many of our young people in overcoming significant personal challenges. The compassionate and skilled approach of our counselling team has helped students feel safe to open up about mental health difficulties and traumatic life experiences—barriers that often hinder their ability to thrive both in educational settings and at home.
JEP Counselling delivers therapeutic support to a number of primary schools across the country. We are strong advocates for early intervention, recognising it as a key factor in improving long-term outcomes in education and life beyond the classroom. Our approach with younger students is rooted in play therapy, enabling us to build meaningful connections and create a safe, trusting environment where children feel comfortable expressing themselves and exploring their emotions.
From September 2025, JEP Counselling will be supporting over 50 secondary and post-16 settings nationwide. Our dedicated team of fully qualified Counsellors and Therapists specialise in working with children and young people, bringing a passion for improving mental health that is truly second to none. We are proud to be the designated counselling providers for both Star Academies and the Oak Learning Partnership, in addition to supporting many other schools across the country. Our close collaboration with school staff and external professional agencies enables us to deliver a comprehensive, wraparound support system tailored to the needs of each student.
One of the specialist services offered by our counselling team is our Children’s Residential Home Therapy Model. We work closely with a number of residential and care providers, delivering one-to-one counselling sessions to young people living in these settings. Many of these children have experienced significant trauma, and our skilled team provides therapeutic support to help them process and begin to heal from these experiences. Sessions can take place within the residential home or during the school day, depending on what best suits the needs of the individual. It is this flexibility, combined with our person-centred approach, that makes JEP Counselling a trusted and valued therapeutic partner within the children’s residential care sector.
In addition to our work with children and young people, we are equally committed to supporting adults through tailored therapeutic services. One key area of this support is our Workplace Employee Counselling offer. This service can complement an existing Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) or serve as a standalone solution. Our team provides both face-to-face and virtual counselling, ensuring flexible and accessible support for staff. We also guarantee a swift response, with sessions available within 48 hours of an initial referral—demonstrating our commitment to timely and effective mental health care in the workplace.
JEP Counselling is a registered provider of therapeutic services for Adoption UK. Through the support of Adoption UK and the Adoption Support Fund—an outstanding initiative that funds therapy for adopted children and their families across the UK—we have been able to deliver a wide range of tailored therapeutic interventions. One of the key approaches we offer is the Richard Rose Model of Therapeutic Life Story Work. This model helps children explore their personal histories in a safe, structured way, allowing them to construct a coherent narrative that challenges distorted thinking and supports emotional healing. By providing a holistic understanding of their past, this approach empowers children to make sense of their experiences and build a more positive sense of identity.
Our counselling team is the designated provider of therapeutic services for Oasis PACS—an outstanding initiative funded by the Violence Reduction Team that supports parents and carers across Greater Manchester. A key component of this programme is the provision of counselling sessions for both parents/carers and their children. This partnership has proven to be highly effective, with powerful outcomes seen among the families who need support the most. In addition to our work with Oasis UK, we also extend counselling support to the parents of the young people we work with in schools. This ensures a consistent, wraparound approach that strengthens family relationships and fosters greater harmony within the home environment.

JEP Residential Home Partner
"We started working with JEP Counselling 18 months ago and since then our partnership has grown from strength to strength. We have gone from 1 home to 6 homes in that time and JEP Counselling has kept up with our growth and continued to meet the demands of providing therapeutic support for all of the children in our care. They work with all of our children once a week and provide the flexibility to work either in the home or at their school. They provide detailed feedback and help our staff to understand our children better, and we can therefore provide more support. A professional and impactful therapeutic service."
JEP Partner Secondary School
"JEP Counselling are definitely the best mental health/counselling service that we have bought into. They are willing to work with all of our students in either one to one or groups and the results have been fantastic. The referral and triage process is both clinical and professional and their effective communication with relevant staff members and outside agencies plays a key part in their wraparound support approach and the progress of all those that they work with. We would absolutely recommend JEP."
JEP Partner Primary School
"We are so happy that we invested in JEP Counselling at the start of this year. Our Counsellor is warm and bubbly and our children love attending their session each week. We have referred our most vulnerable students and the changes that we’ve seen are remarkable. The Counsellor works closely with our safeguarding and SEN teams to provide wraparound support. We are really looking forward to continuing our work with JEP Counselling."
Y, Key Stage 4
"I have a counselling session every week at JEP. My counsellor has helped me to control my anger better and to think before I react. I haven’t had any suspensions in months when I am in my other school because I can control it better now. I feel calmer and it has helped me at home as well."
